The Baccarelli Institute is one of the most respected non-profit organizations most in Brazil for providing excellent teaching combining 3 axes
of great importance: cultural, educational and social.
In addition, it formed the world's first orchestra in a slum,
the Heliópolis Symphony Orchestra, breaking several barriers.
With artistic direction and conducting by one of the greatest conductors today, Isaac Karabtchevsky, the institution offers musical education for free and has its headquarters in the community of Heliópolis, where it has been operating for almost 24 years, as an agent of social transformation through art.
Annually more than 1,200 children and young people from 4 years of age participate
16 children's musical classes, 13 choirs, 48 instrument teaching classes
and 4 orchestras, including the main one, the Heliópolis Symphonic Orchestra.
The result of the work is shown to the world through presentations by
artistic groups, which have their own annual seasons: at the Municipal Theater
of São Paulo and MASP (Art Museum of São Paulo).
In addition, they perform at different events around the city and across the country,
sporting, governmental or corporate (learn more below).
Since 2008, the Baccarelli Institute has its own headquarters.
A building in the community of Heliópolis with an area of 5,000 m², built with all the technical and acoustic needs for musical practice - which further raised the quality of the education offered.
The complex has 29 classrooms, 5 halls for choir and orchestra rehearsals, a collection of instruments and scores, dressing rooms, students' secretariat and offices for the executive team.
